Ice machine water filter replacement

A commercial ice machine in the Las Vegas valley should have its own cartridge ahead of the inlet, not a hope that the building softener is enough. Valley tap water is hard. Scale is the reason cubers here lose production between cleanings. The filter is the everyday defense. It is not a repair for a dead compressor, and it is not a sanitizer. This page schedules a filter change and explains what to ask. It does not name a required brand and it is not a dealer page for any cartridge line.

Most kitchen setups are a head on the wall with one or two cartridges, a shutoff, and a bypass. Sediment cartridges catch grit. Scale-reduction and carbon cartridges are what slow the white crust on the evaporator and take some taste out of the ice. A twin manifold costs more in cartridges and in labor than a single head. If you do not know which you have, say whether you see one canister or two, and whether the housing is above the machine or in a chase. A photo is useful in the message only as a description if you cannot attach one. This form is text.

Change the cartridge before the machine is starved, not after the bin has been empty for a day. A loaded cartridge drops pressure. The sump fills slowly, cubes come out small, and the inlet valve gets blamed for a filter that should have been dated. Write the change date on the housing. The interval on the cartridge label is a maximum. Hard water and a busy bar shorten it. Six months is a common planning point for a moderate restaurant, and a high-volume bar or a buffet often needs a shorter gap. The company can confirm the interval for the cartridge that is actually installed.

The bypass exists so the kitchen still has water to the machine during a change, or so a burst housing can be isolated. A bypass left open sends unfiltered water to the cuber and undoes the reason the cartridge is there. A bypass left closed with a clogged cartridge is how a Saturday service starts with no ice. Tell the scheduler if someone already moved those valves. Also say if the filter serves only the ice machine or if a coffee brewer and a soda gun share it. Shared filters foul faster and the ice quality follows the coffee volume.

A filter change does not descale an evaporator that is already crusted. If the harvest is sticking, schedule cleaning as well, or say so and let the company combine the work. If ice tastes off after a fresh cartridge, the bin may still need sanitizing. New cartridges sometimes need a flush so carbon fines do not show up in the first batches. Ask the company to discard that first ice. Do not assume a whole-building softener means the ice line is protected. Many ice lines are teed off before the softener, on purpose, because some machines are not rated for fully softened water. The company reads the machine plate. This desk does not guess the setting.

The range assumes a standard cartridge and the labor to change it on a reachable head during the day. A twin system, a housing that has to be cut in because the old one is seized, or a filter buried in a ceiling is more. The machine itself is a separate price if you are buying cartridges by the case from the company. Confirm both numbers before the work. Put the area, the brand of the ice machine, and whether you are out of ice in the form.

Typical planning ranges
WorkTypical for the valleyWhat the range assumes
Water filter change$90 to $280Standard cartridge and labor
Twin manifold serviceHigher than a single cartridgeTwo cartridges and the extra labor
Cleaning added to the same trip$275 to $650Scale removal is a different task from a cartridge

Typical for the valley. These are planning ranges, not a quote and not a price from a specific company. The company that does the work confirms the price after looking at the equipment. After-hours calls, a rooftop condenser, casino check-in, and a machine that has to be pulled out of a tight cove sit outside these bands.
